Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Gumoreh("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application, website, and related services (the "Service"). By using Gumoreh, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Account information
- Phone number — used to create and sign in to your account via SMS one-time password (OTP).
- Profile details — display name, username, optional bio, and optional profile photo that you choose to provide.
- Password — if you set one, it is stored as a salted hash. We never see or store your plain-text password.
Content you create
- Short videos ("vibes"), photos, captions, likes, comments, and places you save or register.
- Direct messages you send through in-app chat, including any vibes or places you share inside a conversation.
Location
- With your permission, we use your device location to show nearby places, position you on the map, and surface trending spots around you. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
- We do not continuously track your location in the background and we do not sell your location data.
Device and usage information
- Device model, operating system version, app version, language, and approximate region — used to keep the app stable and to diagnose issues.
- Push notification tokens, if you enable push, so we can deliver chat alerts to your device.
2. How we use your information
- Create and secure your account.
- Show you places, vibes, and people relevant to where you are.
- Deliver messages and notifications you ask for.
- Prevent abuse, spam, fraud, and violations of our Terms.
- Improve the Service — fix bugs, measure performance, and plan new features. We use aggregated, de-identified analytics for this wherever possible.
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited cases:
- With other users — your public profile, vibes, and places are visible to other users of Gumoreh by design. Direct messages are visible only to you and the person you message.
- With service providers — we rely on trusted infrastructure partners (for example, Google Firebase for authentication, storage, and push notifications) who process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
- For legal reasons — if required by law or to protect the safety, rights, or property of Gumoreh, our users, or the public.
- In a business transfer — if Gumoreh is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
4. Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your profile and the content tied to it within a reasonable period, except where we are legally required to retain certain records (for example, anti-abuse logs or tax records) or where content has already been shared with other users in a way we cannot unilaterally revoke.
5. Your choices and rights
- Access and update — you can view and edit your profile, username, bio, and photo at any time in the app or on the web.
- Delete your account — you can request deletion of your account and associated content from Settings → Delete account in the app, or by emailing support@gumoreh.com.
- Permissions — you can enable or disable location, camera, microphone, photo library, and notifications in your device settings at any time.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to access, correct, port, or restrict processing of your personal data. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.
6. Children
Gumoreh is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country for a social service). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can delete it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), server-side password hashing, and authenticated backend access — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to reduce risk.
8. International users
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including the United States and the European Union, where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide an in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
